Weaver Insurance Agency, Inc was established in 1921 by W.R Weaver. Mr Weaver was a professor at Lenoir Rhyne College and started the agency in his spare time. It is now the second oldest agency in Hickory NC.
Mrs Edna Biggs was a longtime employee of Mr Weaver and later purchased the property and casualty agency. When Mrs Biggs retired, Roger and Cheryl Gilliam purchased the agency from her in 1991 agreeing to keep the name for Dr. Weaver's legacy. They added Gilliam & Associates to the company providing Life, Disability and Annuity coverages.
